A HAMPSHIRE arts centre came alive with music, dance and theatre when it held an arts festival.

Families took part in workshops, children had their faces painted and Totton groups and societies showed off their talents at the Hanger Farm Arts Centre.

Hundreds of people made their way to the Aikman Lane venue in West Totton for the festival which had “exceeded expectations” for its second year.

Head coordinator of the event, Allison Caddell, said she was pleased with how well the event had been received by the public.

She said: “We wanted to go bigger, bolder, and bust. We moved from a car park in Totton and we felt that Hanger Farm was a more inspirational place and which it certainly has turned out to be.

“We have had a full house. We have had back-to-back performances all day.

"I’d say we’ve had a couple of thousand of people coming through here.”

Plans are already in place to hold the free event next year.
