GRAPHIC video footage of an alleged gang rape of a young woman by seven males – including a 13-year-old schoolboy – was shown to jurors at a Hampshire court.

The jury at Southampton Crown Court watched the first of three sections of video taken on a mobile phone of one of the seven defendants accused of raping the 20-year-old victim.

The defendants kept their heads down when the five-minute footage was played to the court, as the prosecution continued their opening of the case, explaining that an “astonishing feature” of this case was that police found footage on a phone seized at the house in Derby Road.

Prosecutor Simon Foster told the court the victim had gone out to visit friends on the night of January 15 before heading to the bus station to get home.

But at around 10pm, she was approached by someone in the subway – who the prosecution say was Mihaita Palie - and taken back to a house.

The court was told she found it difficult to recall much of what happened, telling police she was “not her correct self” and she felt “sleepy, drugged, doped and struggling to stay awake”.

Mr Foster said she thought something had been put in a cigarette she had smoked or a drink, but investigations were unable to establish if there were any substances in her system.

However, Mr Foster told jurors that not every substance that might have affected her consciousness would have remained in her system.

The alleged sexual abuse took place over a period of around four hours, within two bedrooms of the house.

Mr Foster told the jury this was a “traumatic” attack and involved a “multitude of sexual acts”.

He told the court she was manhandled from one room to a second room, which she recalls being full of men who were naked.

He added: “You will hear her describe that made her feel dirty.”

The court then heard how the defendants would take turns to sexually assault her, being held down at times and how she recalls being told “it would be ok”.

Mr Foster added: “She was telling them that she had to go.

“But her protestations she may have made were overruled.”

The jurors were shown the first of three sections of video footage taken on the mobile phone of Cosmin Nicut.

In it the victim is heard saying “I can’t walk”, "where’s the door” and “I can’t get up.”

Palie, 33, Nicut, 20, Octavian Militaru, 37, Ion Matei, 41, Nicolae Ghinea, 21, Radu-Florin Panciuc, 21 and a 13-year-old boy deny all the charges.

Palie is charged with rape and attempted rape, Nicut is accused of two counts of rape and one of causing a person to engage in sexual activity without consent.

Militariu faces two counts of rape, and the others face one charge each of rape.
