A Hampshire mum killed in a crash while returning home from her own sister's funeral has been named as Tereasa Cutler.

The 49-year-old, who lived in Ringwood, was driving along the A31 from Poole when a head-on collision took place between her blue Ford Fiesta and a black BMW 3 Series close to Lake Gates, Wimborne.

As previously reported, five other people - including Ms Cutler's 18-year-old daughter Alice Cutler, 16-year-old son Daniel Cutler and 19-year-old nephew Joseph Woodland - were also seriously injured in the crash.

Ms Cutler and her family had just come from the funeral of her sister Patricia Woodland, who was a technician with the South Western Ambulance Service based in Poole.

Daily Echo:

Ms Woodland died in May and her funeral service took place at Harbour View Woodland Burial Ground in Poole at 2.30pm on Wednesday.

More than 50 paramedics had turned out in their green uniforms and formed a guard of honour in tribute at the funeral, while the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance performed a fly past as well.

Tragically, some of the paramedics at the funeral were later sent to the crash scene at 4.20pm to deal with the fatal incident, a little more than four miles away at Lake Gates.

Tributes have now been paid to a "smiley" and "dedicated" mother, who used her free time to volunteer with a local youth football team.

Ms Cutler was the welfare officer of Ringwood FC's Youth groups, managing the safety of 200 youngsters in 20 teams.

Chair of the club Phil King said: "It is an absolutely tragic situation.

"Tereasa was our welfare officer - a role she performed for a number of years. She was very well-known for her smiley face down at the football club, which was a heart-warming thing to see. She was incredibly hard-working.

"She carried out her vital role with unwavering dedication."

Mr King said the events were particularly tragic in light of the death of Ms Cutler's sister.

"Recently Tereasa had her mind on her sister's wellbeing and I told her that the club didn't matter and that she should look after her sister," he said.

"Wednesday must have been a very tough and emotional day for her and then the tragic events happened and she passed away."

He added that all at the club are thinking of Ms Cutler's children and nephew.

"Tereasa was at our football festival weekend on May 30 and 31, as was her son Danny, who acted as a referee for us," he said.

"She will be truly missed, and I will always remember her with a cheeky smile and a glint in her eye.

"We'd like to wish all involved in the collision a speedy recovery."

Rachel Lawton, manager of the Harbour View Woodland Burial Ground, said she was shocked and upset when she heard the news.

"It's terrible and our thoughts and condolences go out to the family. It's just unbelievable. I saw about the crash on the news but obviously didn't realise what had happened until the next day."

A spokesperson from the South Western Ambulance Service said staff wished to offer their "sincere condolences to the family and friends of those involved in the tragic crash".

"We are providing support to our staff at this difficult time," the spokesperson added.

Son Daniel and nephew Joseph are being treated at Southampton Hospital with very serious injuries.

Both males were airlifted to hospital and remain in a critical condition.

However, it has today been confirmed by police that they are not suffering with life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the BMW, a 24-year-old Dorchester man, and the front seat passenger, a 21-year-old Dorchester man, are both being treated at Poole Hospital with serious injuries.

The incident sparked a major emergency response with both the Dorset and Somerset and Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulances, police helicopter, officers and medics, fire crews and land ambulances called to the scene.

The road was closed for hours to allow experts to investigate the crash.

Daily Echo:

Police are appealing for witnesses to the crash, or anyone who may have seen the vehicles in the run up to the collision to contact them on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
