SOME of Southampton’s top bands will play at one of the city’s newest venues in ad of the victims of the Nepal earthquake.

The show on July 4 will be held at The 1865, in Brunswick Square and features Accrington Stanley, Soma High, Sleeping Tigers, Beat Easton and Daniel Eagle.

“It’s a great line up yet again,” said Tom Mitchell, events volunteer at Oxfam Music .

Headlining are Soma High fresh from a slot at Common People and the launch of their new E.P Tough Love released only last month who continue to cement themselves as ones to watch on the south coast scene. Their electronic effect-laden rock 'n' roll has drawn comparisons to Depeche Mode and other local alternative heroes Alt-J.

Accrington Stanley who were formed in 1986 and have experienced a resurgence the last couple of years thanks in part to being one of the first bands to be included in the much publicised archiving of John Peel’s record collection.

“It’s been quite a quick turnaround to have everything booked and promoted,” said Rob Milner, manager of Oxfam Music.

“The volunteers at the shop are so pro-active it’s fantastic to behold. When the reality hit of what was happening in Nepal everyone came together.”

Oxfam Music is offering free entry to the fundraiser with the donation of a non-perishable item for the charity’s Above Bar Food Bank.

Free entry can also be obtained with a donation that any Oxfam shop can sell. Alternatively, they are asking for a £3 donation for Nepal.

There will also be fundraising through a raffle at the gig with the top prize being an unlimited pass for the winner and a guest to the following venues - : The Joiners, The Talking Heads, Lennons and The 1865 ¬– throughout July.

The raffle will be a monthly event with anyone donating to Oxfam Music receiving entry into that month’s draw.

More information on the gig is available from the shop on 023 8023 6581 or their facebook page.
