A TEENAGER was rushed to hospital after diving into a river.
The 17-year-old girl injured her foot underwater while diving into the River Medina from Whitegates pontoon in the Isle of Wight.
The youngster received initial treatment to the deep cut at Cowes lifeboat station before being taken to accident and emergency at St Mary’s Hospital yesterday afternoon.
Meanwhile, Cowes RNLI lifeboat rescued a couple who was stranded in the Solent during the Round the Island race which saw thousands flock to coastlines to watch hundreds of competitors.
The man and the woman, who were not competing in the race, were discovered a mile away from Gilkicker Point in Gosport at 12.50pm after their motor-cruiser had engine trouble.
The Sundancer vessel was towed towards Portsmouth where they were able to return to shore by 2.40pm.
