THOUSANDS of people headed to a Hampshire field for their annual village festival and enjoy the sun.

Children had faces painted, cadets performed routines and bands entertained the crowds at Warsash Festival.

Families gawped at more than 50 classic cars from the Locks Heath Classic Car club parked in Newtown Road while there was also a carousel, a stream engine and children enjoyed pony rides.

More than 70 organisations were in Strawberry Field raising money for good causes while there was a dog agility display and several dance clubs showed off their skills.

The fourth festival in a row also saw a scarecrow competition which 30 businesses and organisation taking part.

Festival organiser Matthew Chase said: “We estimated we had about 6,000 people last year and I think we’ve hit that target this time. It’s been a massive response.

“I’ve had lots of people coming up to me saying how great it was, nothing but good comments.

“The ethos about the festival is bringing the community together and I think we’ve managed to achieve that.”
