THE owners of a Southampton nightclub have applied to extend its opening hours.

A bid to close Pop World at 3.30am, seven days a week, has been filed with city council licensing chiefs.

The venue in Lower Banister Street currently shuts after 2am, seven days a week, and its owners want to be able to serve alcohol until 3am too.

They have also applied to be able to show films at the venue from 10pm to 3am, seven days a week, and to remove “outdated” conditions and replace them with ones such as maintaining a CCTV system, incident book and carrying out regular patrols and toilet checks.

The closing date for representations on the application is July 21, after which a decision will be made on the application.

Anyone wanting to make representations on the application can do so by writing to Licensing Team, Southampton & Eastleigh Licensing Partnership, Southampton City Council, PO Box 1767, Southampton SO18 9LA.
