MYSTERY surrounds the death of a three-month old baby after he collapsed in the middle of the night at a Hampshire house.
Doctors said they could not establish what killed Rome Dujon, whose blood contained a small trace of mephedrone.
However consultant paediatric pathologist Dr Samantha Holden said it was not possible to tell what affect it may have had.
She added that aside from minor heart and lung issues he was healthy and no cause was found.
Rome's mother, Rachel Dujon, of Frosthole Close, Fareham, lost her first child to a heart problem.
The 30-year-old told the Winchester inquest on Monday (JULY20) that she knew something was wrong with Rome on February 19.
Along with her two other children the family were staying at a friend's house in Coldeast Close, Sarisbury Green.
Ms Dujon said: "For some reason I just woke up and checked him he didn't sound right. I touched his lip and there was no reaction.
"He looked like my first son."
Rome was rushed to Southampton General Hospital and pronounced dead shortly afterwards.
Senior coroner for central Hampshire, Grahame Short, ruled an open verdict.
He said: "It was a tragedy for you as his mother and indeed for the whole family to lose him when he appeared to be a bright and healthy baby."
