THREE pairs of limited edition cufflinks worth a total of £3,500 have been stolen from one of Hampshire’s top attractions.
The cufflinks, hand-made using metal from one of the record-breaking cars owned by speed king Sir Malcolm Campbell, were taken from a display cabinet at the National Motor Museum, Beaulieu.
Police have released CCTV footage of two men they want to question about the theft, which occurred in the gift shop.
Police said the cuff-links were made using metal from one of the Bluebird vehicles driven by Sir Malcolm’s son Donald.
But the museum has confirmed that the vehicle involved was the Sunbeam car that returned to Pendine Sands in Wales this week to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the day it set a new land speed record of 150mph.
The theft took place the day before the car revisited the spot, with Sir Malcolm’s grandson Don Wales at the controls.
