COMPUTER games fans now have something to get them out of the house.

The first Southampton Game Fest will be held on August 31 at iRepair in Commercial Road.

It is the brainchild of Patrick Day-Childs, 22, from Bitterne, a video games tester and writer for gaming websites.

The festival will showcase new and retro games and host tournaments. Seventy per cent of proceeds will go to Special Effect, a charity which modifies games consoles so that children with disabilities can use them.
