A HAMPSHIRE man has been jailed for breaching council-imposed noise orders.

Brian Michael, 40, of Leyton Road, Gosport, admitted breaching the orders by playing excessive loud music and shouting at his previous address in Albert Street, Gosport.

He will now serve a three-month prison sentence as the offence activated a suspended sentence for an unrelated conviction.

Fareham Magistrates Court also ordered Michael to pay £200 compensation and £150 court costs.

Noise-making equipment seized by environmental health officers from Gosport Borough Council were also confiscated.

Mark Hook, leader of the council, said: “Everyone has a right to enjoy themselves but equally everyone has a right to enjoy their home environment and the peace and well- being it provides.

“So when someone wilfully disobeys a noise abatement notice and continues to make their neighbours lives a misery by playing loud music and shouting, it’s important we take steps through the courts to ensure it stops.”
