A LORRYFUL of hair products has spilt over a main road in Hampshire, closing it for most of the day.
Originally, police described the lorry's contents as "hazardous materials" although it was later discovered to contain items such as shampoo and hair gel which were across the A34.
The road is closed southbound and one lane northbound between the A4 and the A343.
Police, Fire and Highways England Traffic Officers are currently at the scene dealing with the incident, which occurred at 6.45am.
Motorists are advised to allow extra time for their journey as there are significant delays in the area.
Traffic is being diverted off the A34 at Speen via the A4 eastbound, A339, and B4640 southbound to Tothill to re-join the A34, following the hollow triangle symbol.
The carriageway is likely to remain closed until later this evening while a police investigation is carried out. Debris must be cleaned off the road before recovery of the lorry can take place then repair work to the barrier carried out.
The A34 will fully reopen as soon as it is safe to do so.
