MUSIC festival-goers raised more than £16,000 for charity.

The Brickhill Music Festival near West Tytherley pulled in the crowds and the cash.

More than 20 bands from across the area took part in the two-day festival which netted a total of £16,300 which will be shared between Macmillan Cancer Support and Naomi House and Jacks Place at Sutton Scotney near Winchester.

Santander Bank's Romsey branch helped to boost the total raised by handing over £2,800 towards the original amount £13,500.

A spokesperson said a mixed bag of weather - sunshine and at times torrential rain didn't deter people from attending the festival.

"Despite the vagaries of the weather this hugely popular two- day event raised a fantastic total profit of £16,300," said the spokesperson adding that with overnight camping it provided "true festival" experience for those attending the fundraiser.

Children's activities were also staged at the event.

In a joint comment from the organising committee - Jarred Bundy, Amanda Ford, Shona and Paul Blackmore, Martin Jenkins and Louise and Paul Falcini - they said: " A massive and special thanks to all volunteers and helpers and most of all the wonderful supporters who made the event a huge success, despite the weather, these are such great causes and we are very grateful indeed.”
