A MYSTERY man from Southampton is counting his lucky stars after netting £27,000 from a £2 bet.

The 32-year-old father-of-four, placed the bet at William Hill on a nine-team accumulator over the Bank Holiday weekend and was delighted when all of his predicted results came in.

He said: “I only ever bet in small amounts and I’ve been waiting for a big win like this. My family have been away on holiday, but I couldn’t go with them because I was working, so I think I will finally have a day off, pay all the bills and then treat myself and my children.”

The man, who has asked to remain anonymous, added he had not been on holiday for months and works various jobs to pay the bills.

He also plans to buy a new car and get presents for his children.

William Hill spokesman Jon Ivan-Duke added: “The gentleman has overcome odds of over 13,525/1. It’s hard enough to pick one winner sometimes, but to pick nine is a great effort. It’s the best bet we’ve seen so far this season.”
