SCORES of amateur golfers teed off to help the elderly at an annual charity golf day in Southampton.

More than 60 people played a round of golf at East Horton Golf Club to raise funds for Age UK Southampton, chosen as the nominated charity by Old Mutual Wealth.

Businesses from across the South competed for a variety of prizes including the overall winner trophy and raised £1,270 from ticket sales, hole sponsorship, refreshments and the proceeds of a unique opportunity to drive a top of the range BMW for the weekend.

Peter Bennie, chief officer at Age UK Southampton, said: “We are incredibly grateful to Old Mutual Wealth for selecting Age UK Southampton as the nominated charity for their annual golf day.

“We rely on support to enable us to improve the quality of life for the city’s older people; raising £1,270 is a fantastic achievement and couldn’t have been done without their superb organisation and the support of local companies who have submitted teams or sponsored different holes for the event.”
