WORK colleagues and friends, Maryam Minhas and Leanne Gillard had never cycled more than eight miles before they signed up to take part in the 66-mile London to Brighton ride.

Since then the duo have been out in all weathers training for the event which takes place on Sunday (September 6).

The pair who work at a Romsey-based executive coaching firm, Complete Coherence Ltd were inspired to raise money for Wessex Neuro Intensive Care Unit after the daughter of one of the directors, Carol Evans, was treated by the hospital following a serious riding accident.

Kelly was in an induced coma for one month last year and has made an amazing recovery thanks to the care she received at the unit.

In addition, to the Wessex Unit, Maryam and Leanne are also raising funds for three other charities close to their hearts: Plan International, Solent Mind and The Stubbington Ark.
