A HARDY group of Hampshire motorcyclists were welcomed with open arms when they finished their 3,261-mile trek around the UK.

Hampshire pair Wayne Boyes and Darren Lake have braved busy roads, Scottish mosquitos and mechanical problems along the way, but were treated to a party on their return to Totton.

The 45-year-olds, along with Wayne's 17-year-old stepson, have raised more than £4,500 for cancer charities on their huge journey which took in Lands End, John O'Groats, Brighton Pier and Blackpool Tower.

Speaking after the welcome home party, Wayne said: "The band were absolutely brilliant, and the people who made all the food.

"It was a lovely night and everybody had a brilliant time."

And as for the ride itself, Wayne says that despite difficulties along the way he will take away fond memories.

"The views were outstanding", he said.

"We were going right around the coast and saw places that you would never see in your life normally.

"Everybody was beeping us as we went past. It was quite a challenge but I'm pleased that we did it."
