A HAMPSHIRE council has seen a fall in complaints and a rise in praise from residents.

Eastleigh Borough Council received 31 formal complaints between April 2014 and March 2015, according to a report review by the council’s head of revenue, benefits and customer service.

This compares with 36 the previous year.

The council also recorded 553 compliments from residents in the last financial year, compared to 188 the previous year.

Of these 455 were compliments for individual staff members and 98 were for a particular service and all are from members of the public that contacted the council to say thank you.

However, the report said the increase was due to the council now being able to transcribe compliments taken verbally from the customer service centre since last September. This happens at the end of the call when the person is asked if they would like to take part in a quick survey.

Of the 46 complaints resolved in 2014/2015 two were upheld.

The council’s audit and resources committee will review the report and are asked to agree recommendations for changes to the complaints procedure at a meeting at Eastleigh House on Tuesday at 6.15pm.
