MOBILE phone footage could provide valuable information about a road rage attack on the M3 motorway.

Two men in a van were attacked on the southbound carriageway, between junctions six and seven at Basingstoke, at around 2pm on Saturday, August 22.

The two victims were travelling in a Ford Transit van, in the inside lane in heavy traffic.

A white 3 or 5 series BMW flashed its lights and beeped its horn at the van, which then moved to the middle lane to let the car pass.

But when traffic slowed to a standstill, occupants of the BMW and a silver VW Golf got out of their cars and approached the van.

They smashed the van's windscreen and passenger window, before assaulting the men inside, leaving them with minor injuries.

When traffic started to move again, the group left and both cars drove off.

The men are described as being Asian and having English accents, with two of the attackers coming from the BMW, and a third, a man in his sixties with a bushy beard, coming from the VW Golf.

The first man from the BMW is described as 6ft 1ins tall, and wore a pink t shirt and blue jeans, with short cropped hair and glass.

The second man from the BMW is described as 5ft 8ins tall, with long frizzy hair, and wore a white vest.

The older man from the VW Golf wore grey clothing and a grey hat.

Police believe that a driver in a vehicle from the Czech Republic filmed the attack on his mobile phone, and are keen to trace him.
