COMMUNITY groups in Basingstoke are among 35 in Hampshire that have received a total of £90,000 from the county’s police and crime commissioner’s small grants fund.
The grants of up to £3,000 are to be used by community and voluntary organisations for projects intended to reduce offending, support victims and improve community safety.
Basingstoke Voluntary Action (BVA) Youth Team will receive £2,788, whilst Fluid Motion Theatre Company has been allocated £2,619.
Both organisations are based at The Orchard building in White Hart Lane.
Simon Hayes, PCC for Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, said: “Through this latest round of funding, I wanted to concentrate on helping community organisations that need a small amount of funding to help keep our communities safer.
“The number and quality of the applications demonstrates the demand for this kind of funding, and I am delighted that we have been able to help many of these organisations to deliver projects which will support and engage people.”
In all, 89 organisations submitted applications for funding worth a total of £227,630 in total.
