Southampton company among firms shamed for not paying minimum wage

Waters & Sons Independent Funeral Directors, which has its headquarters in in Sholing, underpaid one worker by £768.51.

As reported earlier today by the Daily Echo, over 100 firms across the country have been named-and-shamed for not meeting their legal obligations.

The best known were the fashion chains Monsoon and Accessorize, who failed to pay a total of over £100,000 to more than 1,400 staff.

The National Minimum wage is £6.70 an hour, and will soon be replaced by what the government call the national living wage of £7.20 an hour for adults over 25.

However, the actual living wage is pegged at £7.85 an hour - £9.15 in London - and is due to be uprated next month.
