A HAMPSHIRE pub has won a national pub of the year competition.

The White Buck Inn, in Burley, claimed the top prize in the Best Hotel/Inn category in Fuller, Smith & Turner PLC’s pub of the year contest.

As well as the receiving the award, the prize also includes a £2,000 holiday, a staff party and an engraved plaque for the pub.

Fuller’s chairman Michael Turner presented the award to the pub’s manager Martin Sliva and said: “The White Buck Inn is in the heart of the New Forest, boasting stylish boutique bedrooms providing some of the finest accommodation in this area of stunning natural beauty.

“I’m delighted to be handing Martin this very well-deserved award, the pub has thrived since he joined last year.

“He has truly lifted the business, building a strong team and frequently receiving excellent reviews for the pub’s food and service. His commitment and hard work is undisputed.”

Mr Sliva said: “We’ve had a great year here at The White Buck and this award really puts the icing on the cake.

“In the last 12 months we’ve really been concentrating on making sure all our customers have a fantastic experience whether they join us for a night’s stay, a family meal or just a quick drink and I hope we’ve succeeded.

“I’d like to thank all our customers for supporting us this year and we look forward to celebrating this win with them.”
