PLANS to knock down a Southampton pub and replace it with houses will go before planning chiefs tonight.
Witchampton Developments Ltd wants to demolish the King George in Regent's Park and replace it with six three-bed homes.
The pub is currently closed and the company wants to add seven car parking spaces to the site on the corner of Oakley Road and King George's Avenue.
Seven residents and ward councillor Steven Galton have contacted the city council about the plans, saying they would add to existing parking issues and be "detrimental to highways safety".
And council planning officers have also recommended that the plans be rejected, saying they would result in the loss of a community facility and that the design is "inappropriate".
The plans will go before the council's planning and rights of way panel at a meeting at the Civic Centre tonight.
