Police have issued a warning to students after a burglary in Southampton, which saw five laptops stolen.

Offenders broke into a house on Tennyson Road, in Portswood,  between 7.15pm and 10.45pm on Friday. after smashing a glasspanel on a back door.

They then forced entry into five bedrooms, stealing  five laptops, before leaving.

Police are now appealing for witnesses who may have seen anything suspicious at the time of the burglary to come forward.

Officers are also reminding students to take a look at our crime prevention advice to help keep their belongings safe.

Tips include:

• Always make sure you close and lock windows and doors every time you go out.

• If you are worried about the security to your property tell the landlord.

• Make sure you have adequate insurance.

• Never leave valuables on display from downstairs windows.

• Register your stuff for free onwww.immobilise.comand help the police reunite stolen property to its rightful owner.

• If you are a victim of crime always report it to the police by calling 101. In an emergency call 999.
