DETECTIVES investigating after vandals caused £15,000 of damage at a Hampshire special school have arrested two teenagers.

Graffiti was sprayed on buildings at St Francis School in Fareham while roof tiles were ripped up and windows were smashed, and police believe the incident may be linked to other damage in the area.

Police have confirmed that two 17-year-olds have been arrested on suspicion of causing criminal damage following a probe into the incident.

As previously reported by the Daily Echo, the vandal attack on November 8 was the latest in a line of incidents at the school.

Members of the community near the school helped to clean up the damage and head teacher Steve Hollinghurst was delighted with the response.

He said: “It was great to see all the children and parents and lovely to see the school looking wonderful again.

“There has been a great outpouring of support from the local tradespeople and the community.

“Many parents, carers, friends, families and staff have raised money and we wish to thank everybody so much for their kindness.”

The two boys have been bailed until January 4, 2016 while police carry out further enquiries.

Anyone who has information on the incident is asked to contact PC Matt Curson at Fratton Police Station by calling 101 or speak to Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
