A TEENAGER has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a woman was mown down in a hit-and-run crash.

Detectives are quizzing the 18-year-old woman from Totton last night.

The 23-year-old victim suffered head injuries and is in a critical-but-stable condition, police said.

As reported by the Daily Echo, the woman was walking down Tutts Lane towards Groves Down in West Wellow near Romsey at lunchtime on Tuesday when she was hit by a white Nissan Micra.

Police were called to the scene around 1.45pm where they found the victim seriously hurt.

Paramedics arrived and took the woman to Southampton General Hospital where she was said to be in a life threatening state.

Police said the driver of the white Nissan Micra failed to stop after the incident and their immediate enquiries were centred on trying to find that person.
