FIREFIGHTERS had to saw off a man’s engagement ring from his finger after his relationship came to an end.

The 26-year-old walked into Fareham Fire Station on Saturday afternoon asking for help removing his ring.

Firefighters were able to use a tiny saw to remove it, which they use for removing rings for patients in hospitals regularly.

Watch manager Ross Hutton said: “Unfortunately he had broken up with his partner but was stuck with the ring on his finger. He’d tried grease and washing up liquid but it wouldn’t come off. He was very pleased we could help him.”
