MOTORISTS faced eight miles of tailbacks on a Hampshire motorway after a crash and a lorry breakdown.

Traffic is building on the M27 eastbound after a collision involving a car and a motorbike near the Hamble River bridge.

The incident happened at about 7.50am and police say no-one was hurt, but the carriageway is currently blocked.

There are also tailbacks further west due to a broken down lorry, which is blocking one lane of the road near junction four at Eastleigh.

Tailbacks are being reported as far east as junction nine at Whiteley, with particularly bad problems between Hedge End and Bursledon.

Drivers are advised to check their routes before setting off.
