HERE is Martin Kemp as you have never seen him before.

The Spandau Ballet and former EastEnders heart-throb was a fashion trail-blazer in the 1980s for the New Romantics.

He is pictured in costume as the Childcatcher ready to take to the Mayflower stage in Chitty, Chitty, Bang, Bang next week.

Dressed from head to toe in black and carrying a giant net for catching his prey, the star of The Krays looks set to strike fear into the hearts of terrified children as he takes on the iconic role of one of the ultimate baddies.

The show opens in Southampton on Wednesday and runs until Sunday, February 21.

The all-star cast also includes comedian, actor and presenter Jason Manford as Caractacus Potts, Coronation Street and EastEnders actress Michelle Collins as Baroness Bomburst plus comedian and Never Mind The Buzzcocks team captain Phill Jupitus as Lord Scrumptious and Baron Bomburst.

The much-loved Sherman Brothers musical Chitty, Chitty, Bang, Bang is beginning its UK and Ireland tour here in Southampton.

Mayflower Theatre chief executive Michael Ockwell said: “I am thrilled we are able to bring Chitty, Chitty, Bang, Bang with such a stunning cast to Southampton.

“Once again we are launching a UK tour and enabling our local community to rediscover the magic of this wonderful musical. Fasten your seatbelts Southampton, it’s going to be a magical ride!”
