A TEENAGER agreed to pick his friends up from a night out despite being over the drink-drive limit, a court was told.
Lewis Martin, 19, of Ashley Close, Swanwick, collected his friends despite having drunk earlier in the evening, Southampton magistrates heard.
Prosecutor Jason Spelman said on his way home on January 17 he hit a kerb on Stoneham Way, damaging his Vauxhall Corsa's wheel and then decided to abandoning the car. He was picked up by police a shortly after, admitting he was the driver.
A breath test gave a reading of 48mg of alcohol in 100ml of breath – the legal limit is 35mg.
Magistrates disqualified him from driving for 14 months, fined him £200 and ordered he pay £85 in costs and a £20 victim surcharge fee.
