HAMPSHIRE’S roads were gritted last night as an arctic chill hit the county.
The mercury plunged to -4°C overnight in the county with the wind chill making it feel weven colder.
Police are also warning of icy roads acros the region.
Southampton City Council said ‘priority routes’ were be gritted from 7pm last night
Gritters will be out this evening from 19.00hrs treating priority routes.

Hampshire Highways said that main routes in the north of the county were gritted from 4pm yesterday and roads in the south treated from 5.30pm onwards.
In Lymington residents are warned to prepare for cold weather and temperatures of –2°C.
Today and tomorrow will be warmer but the needle will again drop to freezing on Thursday night and Friday morning.
