It's a foot-stomping, feather boa-twirling, basque-busting production that has the house on its feet almost from curtain up.

This latest production of Richard O'Brien's comic fantasy musical take on old Hollywood horror movies is brilliant fun and had the opening night audience dancing in their high-heels, and that of course included many of the men.

Rocky has been doing the rounds since its creation in the early seventies and it retains its ability to entertain, surprise and, yes, occasionally still even shock.

This latest production with the sensual Liam Tamne in the role of sweet transvestite Frank-N-Furter proves those points.

This is a high octane Frank with a tremendous voice and impressive physical presence, his finale renditions of Don't Dream It and Going Home quite haunting.

Physique is also the forte of Rocky himself, the muscle-bound creation from the castle laboratory where Frank has been working on his dream mate. Dominic Anderson plays the muscle monster with a soft heart but hard-wired sex drive.

Diana Vickers plays Janet, Ben Freeman is Brad, the naive couple who find more than they were looking for on a night out they will remember for a very long time.

And as always man servant Riff Raff almost steals the show as foil to his deranged, stocking-clad master.

The superb and legendary in the role Kristian Lavercombe plays Riff Raff, ably assisted by Kay Murphy as Magenta and Sophie Linder-Lee as Columbia.

Rock and roll rebel Eddie - 'one from the vaults' played by Richard Meek - emerges from the deep freeze to a blood-soaked end.

Meek re-appears as the Nazi sympathiser Dr. Scott.

Comedian Steve Punt manages to hold things together as the Narrator with wonderful ad-libbing, which is a required skill of the roll these days with so many of the audience determined to join in the action.

And as always the audience themselves, dressed in a variety of stunning outfits, are as much a part of the production as the glorious musical numbers, rising with no encouragement needed to do The Time Warp again...and again.

Rocky runs until and including Saturday.
