For once I agree with Her Indoors, except for her unfortunate spelling of >>birch<<!! Having re-read this article in the paper edition of the Echo and thought about it over a long period, I must confess to feeling quite upset. Everyone has or has had a mother and there\'s no happier sight than a young mother taking her child out in the pram. Such walks are among my earliest recollections and they are surely very special to large numbers of people. I find the violent disruption of a mother\'s walk with her child, in the way that the article describes, a truly loathsome thing. The temptation is to let this hatred of the crime convert into a visceral hatred of the perpetrators - but this is not the answer. It would be a serious error of judgment. Not least because the thieving pair will have only a limited awareness of how people like me feel towards their action. So - the answer? If only it were so simple! I feel nevertheless that it would help to put the commerce of soft drugs onto a regulated, legal footing. With a return to the old system of dispensing harder drugs under tight medical supervision.
