POLICE have been given more time to question a man arrested on suspicion of murder.

The body of Michael Freshwater was found at a house in Westridge Road in the Portswood area of Southampton on Friday.

Police said they had been given more time to question a 26-year-old man from Southampton who was arrested on suspicion of murder yesterday.

This will expire tonight.

A 35-year-old man also arrested on suspicion of murder has been released without charge.

It comes as police step up their investigations as they confirm Mr Freshwater died of a stab wound.

The 49-year-old's family paid tribute to the dad-of-four as a “truly amazing soul”.

His partner Jenny Downey said: “My life will never be the same. We had a special kind of love.

"Not only was he my partner, he was my best friend, my rock and the absolute love of my life.

"I’m left with the biggest black hole in my heart.

“Micky was a wonderful soul, a happy-go-lucky person with a beautiful heart made of gold. He would help anyone out.
