TOWNHILL Park estate in Southampton could be completely transformed within years.
As reported by the Daily Echo, the first phase of a £100m revamp of the estate has been approved and buildings are now set to be torn down and replaced with new homes.
Legendary Hampshire comedian Benny Hill officially opened the estate's show home on September 30, 1959, arriving by Rolls-Royce before getting into a milk float as he arrived on the scene.
To mark the granting of planning permission for an overhaul of the estate, we are taking a look back at Townhill Park through the last six decades.
