POLICE are investigating after woman said she was kidnapped and sexually assaulted by a fake taxi driver.
The woman was in Guildhall Walk, Portsmouth, between 3am and 4am on Sunday when she was approached by a taxi driver.
She was then led to his car in Dorothy Dymond Street and the woman said he drove away and sexually assaulted her in the vehicle before she managed to escape from the vehicle in Purbrook Heath.
Police were called at about 4.30am and a 38-year-old man from Portsmouth has been arrested on suspicion of kidnap and sexual assault and bailed until July 28.
A Hampshire Constabulary spokesman said: “Police would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident, or anyone who has been approached recently by a man posing to be a taxi driver in Portsmouth.”
