HE is set to join the herd when the Zany Zebra trail hits Southampton in the summer.

But the Daily Echo’s sculpture is missing his stripes.

Today we are calling on our young readers to get creative with a design that they think would suit our Zany Zebra.

We want a to wow the crowds that will flock to the city this summer to take part in the trail, so we need your ideas for a show stopping design.

Budding young artists can go wild with their creations and the best one will win a family pass to Marwell Zoo.

The Daily Echo zebra will form part of the smaller traiial of zebras that will be placed around indoor venues including the Marlands shopping centre.

It will be on show alongside more than 100 sculptures that have been decorated by schoolchildren across Hampshire.

We want ours to stand out from the herd so whether its stripes or spots, colourful prints or a quirky theme, we want our readers to help inspire our creation.

The main traiial will see life-sized sculptures dotted around Southampton for the art extravaganza of the summer beginning on July 16 and lasting for 10ten weeks.

Charities, businesses and organisations have sponsored a sculpture which will form part of the free trail around the city.

Organised by the Marwell Wildlife team there will also be a miniature traial around Marwell Zoo for visitors to enjoy.

A Zebra Zoom is also taking place at the zoo where youngsters are being urged to put on their own stripes for an event on May 14.

Youngsters aged up to 16 can enter our competition and have until May 13 to submit their designs, which will be published online.

They can be posted to Sian Davies, Southern Daily Echo, Newspaper House, Test Lane, Redbridge, Southampton, SO16 9JX, or emailed to sian.davies@dailyecho.co.uk.

Make sure you write your name, age and a daytime contact number and address on your entry.
