IT IS set to be a highlight on the social calendar after celebrities and the community have rallied together so women do not have to battle cancer alone.

Sporting legends Matt Le Tissier, Francis Benali and Justin Rose as well as CEO of Ann Summers Jacqueline Gold have all thrown their support behind a Masquerade Ball for local charity The Wessex Haven this weekend.

The glamorous evening with hosts Kenzie Benali and BBC’s Laura Trant takes place tonight at East Horton Golf Club and includes a champagne reception, three course meal, luxury auction, raffle and entertainment from renowned Southampton eight-piece band The Hattie Jacques’ Playlist.

But now the glittering fundraising event will literally add sparkle to the lives of women battling breast cancer.

Southampton luxury jewellers Parkhouse has announced it will donate a pair of diamond earrings worth £1,525 to the charity auction and all money raised from the lucky bidder will go straight to providing physical and emotional support for those who have been told the devastating news they have breast cancer.

Other exclusive auction prizes include a rare football signed by the surviving members of the legendary 1976 FA Cup winning Saints team to mark the 40th anniversary, a two week stay in a luxury ten-bedroom villa in Florida and a celebrity hair cut from stylist to the stars Guy Kremer.

Rob Gray, diamond manager at Parkhouse, said: “As one of the oldest jewellers and watch specialists in the UK, Parkhouse is proud to support local businesses and charities.

“Being a family owned business themselves, Parkhouse are thrilled to be part of The Wessex Haven by donating a stunning pair of diamond stud earrings for the auction. Very fitting to add a little sparkle to the life of one of these extremely brave ladies.”

Breast cancer survivor Heidi Rehman and the Daily Echo’s Tara Russell decided to host the event to celebrate completing the London Marathon after witnessing first-hand the effects of a cancer diagnosis.

The newly opened support centre in Titchfield The Wessex Haven offers free one-to-one personalised emotional and physical care to anyone who has been diagnosed with breast cancer as well as their families.

The centre was opened last year by presenter Sally Taylor after a huge fundraising drive which was supported by the Daily Echo.
