POLICE are hunting arsonists who started a blaze in a derelict warehouse in Hampshire.

Now firefighters are warning youngsters to keep away from abandoned buildings and construction sites ahead of the May half term holidays.

Crews from Redbridge fire station were called to a boarded up warehouse in Brokenford Lane, Totton, at 8.15pm last night after police discovered a pile of burning rubbish.

The 6ft by 6ft pile was out by the time firefighters arrived but crews checked the area was safe before standing down at 8.45pm.

Station watchmanager Simon Packer said the blaze is being treated as suspicious and said: “We believe kids set fire to the rubbish.

"We warn people not to go to derelict buildings as they could get hurt.

"Parents should speak to their children about the dangers.”
