A PERSON has been trapped after a three vehicle crash.

The collision on the busy M27 caused fire and ambulance services to rush to the scene.

Hampshire fire and rescue said that engines from Hightown, Fareham and Cosham attended the scene and had to rescue one person who became trapped.

The crash occured between junctions 10 and 11 on the Eastbound carriageway just after 5.30pm tonight.

It has caused delays of 45 minutes for drivers as far back as junction nine.

A spokesperson for South Central Ambulance service, said: "We were called at 5.37pm reporting a three vehicle accident just after J10 eastbound on the M27.

"We had two patients assessed and discharged at the scene.

"A further male patient was extricated from his vehicle with the assistance of Hampshire Fire & Rescue Service.

"Fortunately he only sustained minor injuries and the crews at the scene are going to treat him at the scene and it is likely he will not need to go to hospital.

"At the scene we currently have a rapid response vehicle and an ambulance at the scene."
