ORGANISERS of a charity football match are urging people to help make a young boy’s dreams come true today.

In a bid to see six-year-old Finley Jefferis-Armour fulfil his wish of going to Disney World, organisers of the event at Southampton’s St Mary’s Stadium are calling on people to back their fund raising.

Fight For Lives wants to see Finley, who is battling a rare type of lymphoma, travel with his family to Florida.

Now they are calling for people to give generously at a football match at St Mary’s today to raise money for the trip.

The target is £5,000 to make Finley’s wish a reality with four teams of 15 competing for the FL Cup.

Director of Fight For Lives Graeme Hampton said: “We are excited about our first football tournament at St Mary’s, our vision is to create an annual event for years to come, in partnership with Halo.

“Supporting the local community, charities and causes are a fundamental part of our business. Our motto is: Stronger Together.”

Businessmen across Southampton will be taking part in the match.

The appeal comes after event organisers Fight For Lives approached Finley’s parents Donna and Jay, who live in Merry Oak, about making their son’s dreams come true.

So far the £1,600 has been raised for their trip after Finley was diagnosed with anaplastic large cell lymphoma in February this year.

Now he is undergoing his fifth phase of chemotherapy.

Hampshire schoolchildren have also been involved, with organisers inviting them to the match and launching a competition for year two children at King’s Copse Primary School in Hedge End to design an eye catching poster for the event.

The match begins at 2pm, children are free to enter and there is a £2 minimum donation for adults.
