A SERIOUS crash closed a Hampshire road.

The A337 Lyndhurst Road was blocked following a crash between a motorbike and a car.

Two air ambulances were dispatched to treat a man in his 50s, who has sustained serious injuries after came off his bike and collided with a car.

Police and ambulance crews were called to the scene at the junction with Grigg Lane in Brockenhurst, outside of the Careys Manor Hotel & SenSpa at just before 11am.

Balmer Lawn Road near the incident was also closed.

A spokesperson for South Central Ambulance Service said that a co-responder vehicle, an ambulance crew, the Thames Valley Air Ambulance and the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance all attended the crash.

They added that they treated a patient, the motorcyclist in his 50s, who has now been transported to Southampton General Hospital by land ambulance, with the crew of the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance on board as well.

The road has now been fully reopened.

In a statement Hampshire police said: "Lyndhurst Road, Brockenhurst, has now been fully reopened following a road traffic collision earlier this morning.

"We would like to thank motorists for their patience as we dealt with this incident."
