FIREFIGHTERS were called to a Hampshire street when a home was struck by lightning.

A crew from Fareham fire station went to Tukes Avenue in Bridgemary after a lightning bolt damaged a communal chimney on the roof of two homes, both of which were unoccupied at the time.

A fire service spokesman said: “The lightning punched a pole in the chimney, even though it was made of reinforced concrete.

“But there was no fire and no-one was hurt.”
