A SCHOOLBOY has been rushed to hospital after being struck by a car on a Hampshire main road.

The youngster was taken to Southampton General Hospital after he was in collision with a black BMW Three Series on A337 Clay Hill in Lyndhurst.

The extent of his injuries are not known, but police say his condition is not life-threatening.

The road had been closed in both directions since the crash taking place at 2.40pm yesterday close to the A35 Gosport Lane junction.

Police say they left the scene at 3.22pm but it is believed there are still delays in the area following the incident.

There are also delays on the A31 Ringwood Road westbound between Cadnam and Picket Post following a broken down vehicle.

The vehicle broke down at 4.23pm and is blocking one lane and is waiting to be removed.
