POLICE have launched a manhunt for a knife-wielding man who attempted to rob a corner shop before he was thwarted by a pensioner.
The terrifying incident happened at Gina's on Clayhall Road in Gosport when the masked man walked into the shop and demanded cash.
He demanded cash but the 71-year-old woman refused and prevented him getting behind the counter.
The robbery happened at about 5.15pm on Monday, June 20, but police have only now released details of the crime.
The victim described the man as five feet six inches tall, slim and said he was wearing a black balaclava, a large hooded navy jacket, and a black tracksuit.
He was cararying a lime green bag which had a pull cord top and he fled the scene on a blue and white bike.
