A HAMPSHIRE school re-opened today – almost a week after it was closed by torrential rain that caused chaos across the county.

Thornhill Primary School in Byron Road, Southampton, was close to shut last Thursday after it fell victim to the thundery downpours.

As reported by the Daily Echo, heavy overnight rain caused drains to burst and water to pour into the building.

A statement on the school’s website says all the damaged furniture and affected carpets have been removed. New furniture has been ordered and some items have already arrived.
