THE family of a terminally ill woman from Hampshire has appealed for help to fly her back to her home before she dies.

Lindsey Gates flew out to the United States to enjoy a holiday with her family, having been diagnosed with four inoperable brain tumours.

However, having arrived at Disney World in Florida with husband Jason and her two daughters she fell in her hotel bathroom, breaking her leg.

Following scans and tests by American doctors, the 40-year-old was told that her cancer had spread to her bones and lungs.

Her family say they are now trying to raise £87,000 after being left with a medical bill of $115,000, while she also needs a special air ambulance to fly her home.

Lindsey, from Emsworth, had been given the five-year all-clear in 2010 after she was diagnosed with breast cancer, only to be given the devastating news she had cancer in the brain earlier this year.

Jason's aunt Sandy McLachlan has said: "What’s happened is awful and we feel completely helpless.

"It was supposed to be the holiday of a lifetime that’s turned into a nightmare.

"This was just an accident. No-one expected this to happen. We just want her to come home to her family and not to die in a different country, alone.

"If I was dying I would want to come home to be with my family."
