A MAN died after his car hit a motorway barrier in Hampshire yesterday.

Police are appealing for witnesses after the crash on the exit sliproad of the northbound A3 motorway at junction four this morning.

The silver Vauxhall Astra hit a barrier and crashed onto the verge at about 5.45am.

The driver, a 25-year-old man from Southsea, suffered serious chest injuries and was taken to Queen Alexandra Hospital but died from his injuries.

The slip road was closed for four hours while police investigated the cause of the crash.

A Hampshire Constabulary spokeswoman said: "We would like to thank motorists for their patience as we dealt with this.

"Officers would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision or who saw the vehicle prior to the incident as they may have information that could assist the investigation.
