POLICE say they have been called to their first Pokemon-related driving incident in Hampshire.

The 'augmented reality' smartphone game has shot to popularity across the globe and tasks players with physically exploring neighbourhoods to see collectable characters.

The Daily Echo has produced an explanation of the game, which you can read here.

So far there have been stories of people absent-mindedly wandering into traffic while fixated on their phone screens, while a teenager in America found a dead body as she played.

And now Hampshire Police say the craze has hit the county.

Hampshire Specials wrote on social media: "And the first Pokemon Go related incident of the night has come in.

"A vehicle driving erratically and slow enough to recognise game."

Hundreds of gamers have scoured Southampton's streets to find characters.
