NEARLY one hundred Southampton trampoliners jumped for joy as they attempted a Guinness World Record by taking part in a nationwide jumping challenge.
83 people aged between four and forty leapt for the stars at the Oxygen trampoline park in Bursledon as part of the company’s first birthday celebrations.
Guinness World Records set the company a goal of jumping for five minutes straight at multiple venues.
The results are awaiting verification but organisers believe the record has been set for the first time.
Participants jumped for five minutes and thirty seconds, timed to coincide exactly with the other centres in Acton, Derby, Wigan and Manchester.
Staff at the centre monitored the historic event, with fitness gurus from next door’s Gym Group expertly keeping time on stopwatches.
The Guinness experts set criteria for the attempt, saying it had to be across multiple venues, with a minimum of fifty people at each park.
Nine year old Hollie Spencer was keen to take part on the first day of her holiday from St Monica’s Primary school. She said: “I’ve never been here before but I’ve got a trampoline in the garden but I just thought it looked fun.”
